I began a postdoctoral fellowship in the ACERT laboratory in Jack Freed's group and I actually work on different projects:
1) I'm elucidating electron transfer mechanism by ESR spectroscopy different photochemical systems.
2) I'm studying by spin label ESR spectroscopy the interaction of Tau protein with microtubule (Alzheimer Disease).
I would like to have more knowledge in instrumentation development especially in time-resolved ESR spectroscopy and rapid-freeze quenching device.

Our research efforts have been directed at the use of spectroscopic methods, such as EPR spectroscopy, to determine the structures and structural transitions in membrane transport proteins and proteins involved in neuronal exocytosis. We have also made extensive use of EPR based methods to characterize the mechanisms of reversible protein-membrane interactions, and to examine the dynamics and conformational equilibria in membrane proteins.

My research is focused on spin-selection rules and other spin-dependent electronic transitions in condensed matter with low spin-orbit coupled electron states which can potentially be utilized for spin-to-charge conversion in spin-based technologies (spintronics, quantum computing). Materials of interest are organic and other carbon based semiconductors, silicon based materials such as mono-, poly, micro, and nano-crystalline as well as amorphous silicon and silicon nitride.

My background is in relaxation measurements (T1,T2) of organic radicals in aqueous phase (250 MHz - 34 GHz) and development of rapid scan EPR imaging at 250 MHz. I have constructed a low field DNP spectrometer (0.1-10 mT) to characterize a variety of DNP agents in the "hyperfine dominant region". This will allow selection of the best DNP agent for use with our ultra-low field MRI (ULF-MRI) spectrometer. In both experiments, we study/manipulate spin physics unique to low magnetic fields.

My research group builds single-chip EPR transceivers in silicon/CMOS. The single-chip solution has two major benefits:

1) It can be easily scaled to wave-scaled EPR arrays enabling reliable fabrication of 1000s of EPR spectrometers.
2) Silicon/CMOS fabrication technology can reduce the cost of EPR spectrometers to below $100 in high-volumes.

My team also works on low-cost single-chip sources and detectors in the THz frequencies that can be used in high-field EPR.
